QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
In daily talking with pastors regarding DEBT-FREE ministry, I find the same questions seem to come up more often than others. The following are the most-asked questions about the DEBT-FREE program:
Q. Just what is a "DEBT-FREE" conference?
A. Typically, it is a two-day, highly intensive training time. Your people will learn biblical principles regarding how God feels about debt and how that debt affects our relationship with Him. They will learn how to be totally debt-free
in the shortest possible time, normally in about 7 years. They will also be taught how to operate on a cash-only basis, never needing or wanting credit again.
Q. What are the typical meeting times?
A. We now have two types of meetings available to you:
A "Regional" or a "Local Church Conference." The Regionals are held on a Monday and a Tuesday night from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a training session on Wednesday morning from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon with the pastors and staff. Regionals are held at a centrally located church and other surrounding churches are invited.
The Local Church Conference is held on Saturday and Sunday. Starting time on Saturday is normally 9:00 a.m. with a lunch break at 12:00 noon. After lunch we finish up around 5:00 p.m.
On Sunday we continue the conference in the Sunday school hour. I recommend we have a joint Sunday school hour with junior age and up. I close the conference in the preaching service with a sermon on the cross.
Q. You mentioned a "Regional" meeting. Tell me more about a "Regional."
A.
Some time ago it became obvious to me that there would be no way I could get to all the churches that wanted a "Debt-Free" Conference. My pastor, Dr. Jack Schaap, felt we needed a way to reach more people so he suggested we do what he called "Regionals." Regionals are a way to reach more people in a shorter amount of time with our message—plain and simple. There are many benefits to hosting a Regional and if you would be interested in hosting or participating in a Regional Conference in your area, please give me a call.
Q. Do you meet with people after the conference?
A. Yes and no. There is time after the Saturday Local Church Conference to meet with a few people. I suggest you set up appointments in 15-minute increments to begin at the conclusion of the conference.
However, I cannot
meet with people during the Regionals due to the large number of those who attend.
As I mentioned earlier, there is a training session for the pastors and staff on Wednesday morning. During this session, you will be taught how to use the "Debt-Free" software and we will answer all your questions regarding the "how-to's."
Q. Will my people be ask to buy anything, and is this a get-rich scheme?
A. I am sure these are the two most asked questions. NO! We do not make your people buy or sell anything. Everything is free, and they will leave that night with all the information they need to be debt-free. All forms and paperwork will
be there to take home with them as they leave. Books and software will be available for your people to purchase if they desire, however; it is not required that they do so.
Q. May I, as the pastor, use the material after you leave?
A. Yes. During the Local Church Conference I will install software on your computer that will allow you to counsel your people after I am gone. This software will make and print budgets for you and is a tremendous tool in
helping your folks. You may copy any of the printed material you like.
Q. What is the charge for the conference?
A. This is a ministry. There are no fees or charges. I conduct the conferences for the free-will love offerings of God's people. Travel and overnight accommodations are the responsibility of the host church.
Q. How much notice do you need for a meeting?
A. As of this date, I am scheduled six months in advance. If you have a date in mind, please let me know as soon as possible.
Q. Do you have any references?
A. Yes, a list can and will be provided at your request. Also, please see "Pastor Letters" and "References" in this site.
Q. What is your overall goal in coming to my church?
A. I have a burning desire to rid God's people of debt. Being a debtor myself I found a biblical way to eliminate that debt, and I want to share that information with as many people as possible.
Q. Finally, what is the biggest complaint you receive from those who attend?
A. I know you will not believe this, but it is that the conference was too SHORT. There is a deep need in our churches in the area of finances, and the people are hungry for help. Please give me a call today, and let me be of
service to you and your people.
